Since its the very first day of autumn.. HAPPY AUTUMN! I’ve been thinking about some of my favourite things and I thought maybe I should write them down to have in front of me as a visual gratitude. You’ve heard of those dream boards where people put their dream house, dream job up to see every day as an inspiration and visualization of the future. Well, what if I see my favourite things in front of me, just the thought will make me a little bit happier, a bit more cheerful every day. I tend to forget how much little things can make me happy, for example a big bubble bath or a good film with a plate of chips. I forget about these small joys and then I think I’m the unluckiest, saddest person alive until I remember on a better day that I can actually cheer myself up singlehandedly, and it’s not even that hard!
I will be able to come back to this post and see some ideas or inspiration when I need it the most. I hope the following words / places / pictures make you a little bit joyful as well, they may even inspire one of you to write your own happy list for the darker days!
Some of the things I like are..
Chai Lattes on a cold day
Painting my nails
Coffee first thing every morning
Mornings – my favourite time of day!
Pampering – ah 🙂
Shopping.. For anything!
Watching my favourite series
Walking in Autumn
A blog called: autumncozy
Daydreaming & Music
The smell of Autumn & Rain
Bags – packing bags
Packing anything in general
Cleaning (I know.)
The feeling of order & progress – tidy!
The idea of mermaids
Creams & Lotions
Chicken nuggets & Chips
This has been actually a very hard exercise in a sense that I felt an intense need to explain every statement – rather than just saying the actual thing! I just wanted to explain it and talk about each thing soooo much, ah! But I won’t, I can’t, I would end up writing a novel and it’s more interesting this way, don’t you think?
In another sense, the list just went on and on… I won’t be posting this for a few days, because I know I’ll be adding stuff to the list as the hours pass by! I realised I love so many things, and as I wrote them all down I got happier and happier. This is something everyone should definitely try! Life isn’t so bad after all. There are always so many things to be grateful for and lots of these things don’t require a fortune in the world I live in, so I can try make myself happy any time I want! Which is a very lucky thing to do, I can only imagine coming from / living in a world where the above things are impossible to do or to see for the average person… Have you ever imagined that? How lucky you are?
I know lots of people say lifestyle comparisons are nothing to go by, but it’s still a real issue we chose ignore on a daily basis. You are you and the problems in your life are the most important for you, but sometimes comparison helps to put things into perspective. For me anyway.
If you have decided to write your own happy list, even on your phone or on a piece of paper, link it to me, I would love to see all the different things that make other people happy. I wonder, if my list is extremely general and everyone loves these things or if they’re strange pastimes.. Is there anything crazy or unusual that makes you happy?! Tell me Tell me! 🙂
PS; Quick announcement.. As it is the first week of Autumn, I’m going to do an Autumn Marathon and do something seasonal every day and post about it – this will probably include lots of photos, so I’m already polishing my camera! And am very very excited!
